Natural Resources
The Fond du Lac Natural Resource Staff is involved in numerous projects, both on and off reservation managing and researching natural resources. Much of what we do varies by the season, our staff supports FDL Forestry, Fisheries, Wildlife, and Environmental Programs by providing technical assistance on their projects.
For example, when you go spearing and netting in the spring, our staff are the creel clerks who weigh, measure and collect biological samples at Mille Lacs Lake. When you sell your rice, our staff weighs and transports the rice to processors. We assist our Forestry Program by providing tree planting, by hand and with their “tree spade”. We provide assistance to the Gitigaan Club by tilling garden plots for Band Members. Data entry and sample processing is provided for various Programs in Resource Management. We do roadside mowing for tribal roads, maintain and prepare the powwow arbor and grounds at Mashkawisen.
The list of activities we are involved in is diverse, and while we provide assistance on numerous projects for other Resource Management activities we have several projects of our own that are detailed in the sections above.
