FDL Release 3/12/2024 - Yesterday, on March 11, 2024, Fond du Lac police officers responded to a missing person report for PETER MICHAEL MARTIN. Peter, a 31-year-old Native American male, stands approximately 5'10" tall, weighs 185 pounds and has dark brown eyes. FDL Release 7/14/2022 - The Fond du Lac and Grand Portage Bands of Lake Superior Chippewa filed a landmark Clean Water Act lawsuit against the EPA in federal court. FDL Release 5/3/2022 - Today, the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa (Band) will finally be heard on its objection to a 404 permit for PolyMet's NorthMet Project. The Army Corps suspended the 404 permit in March 2021 in order to have the EPA comply with the law and evaluate the effects of PolyMet's Project on the Band's downstream waters. Full Press Release |
FDL Release 3/21/2022 - The Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa (FDL) was notified by Enbridge on September 10th, 2021 of an aquifer breach that occurred earlier that month, located off the FDL Reservation. Due to the breach, the aquifer is discharging its water content within the boundaries of the Reservation upstream of Deadfish Lake. As of March 21st, 2022, the volume of water discharged was approximately 219,600,000 gallons. The flow could potentially violate the Band's water quality standards and impact the Band's natural resources, including one of the wild rice waters of the Reservation. FDL Release 1/24/2022 - Fond du Lac Honors Late Chief Conservation Officer. January 12, 2022, the FDL RBC executed two actions to celebrate John Smith's life and memorialize his passing. One resolution retired Smith's badge designation of K810 and the other renamed the Fond du Lac Resource Management & Tribal Court building to the John A. Smith Memorial Building.
